This year my theme is Gold. My skin, what’s within, My Essence, Presence, Experience, and existence. 🤎 I’m fine like pure gold is refined. I’ve been through pressure, I’ve been through the fire, but I’m divine and get better with time.
One of my favorite quotes is one written by myself. “I wasn’t born into riches but I’m golden, my weight on the world will show how I’m chosen” – Aaliyah Sherie. This quote means, what I possess internally and how I was crafted, what I know about myself, it’s now evident and I will walk in the world in a way that is valuable. I’ve been keeping to myself and one day I’m going to share it with the world. The uncovering process is in effect.

AALIYAH SHERIE
I didn’t know how I wanted to celebrate my birthday, but I did know I wanted to document it with a photoshoot. I came up with a cute concept – 24k gold, made a Pinterest mood board, and put together some cute looks (more of which you will see if you stay tuned to my upcoming posts) but what i didn’t come equipped with are poses and facials.
Posing for the camera isn’t easy. Seeing myself properly has been challenging, especially since I had allergic reactions and stress on my right eyelid. It caused my skin to stretch over time and my muscle isn’t as strong as it once was to lift my eyelid.
I used to take pictures all the time, selfies every day, ootd mirror pictures, etc. but not being in control of the camera or how high my eyelid goes tends to take control of how high my confidence is on camera. I’m not into astrology and I don’t look deep into zodiac signs but I do know that being detail-oriented and wanting control are Virgo traits.
I tend to pay attention to myself, and like when things are balanced, so it bothers me sometimes that both of my eyes don’t look the same. This isn’t my focus all the time though, I actually don’t even think about it until it’s brought to my attention, usually outside of myself.

To level the narrative, I love seeing myself in content. Once I get good pictures and videos, I will literally look at my posts over and over just because I like what I see. Seeing moments that are created and documented give a sense of pride and joy that’s long-lasting.
I get this same feeling of “golden moments” when I’m looking at save worthy or mood board worthy content on social media, digital media, and magazines created by other people. You want to take them with you and remember those moments. Magazines – one of my favorite forms of inspiration. The editorials, pictures, graphic design, models, and storytelling are art forms that I like to indulge in.
This year I plan to continue creating and actually sharing versions of myself and my work in magazines and screens.
